| Good morning! |
What another successful and FULL day! We started our day finding a beautiful quiet spot along Lake Dunmore for some journaling. Breakfast was a hit with pancakes, learning the resources we use to get our food, weather announcements done by our very own, Violet S, and charting our food waste at each meal. This is a challenge for our students because we are wasting a lot of food. We had cabin inspections with most of us getting 8s. This is on a scale of 10; some improvements needed! The morning investigations took the team on long hikes, on a mystery hike to learn about the land around the lake, displayed our Abenaki skills, and to learn all about birds. The highlight of the day was rec time where students went fishing, played basketball, soccer, designed their name tags, and just had some fun with friends! The afternoon consisted of more hikes, lessons on endangered species, learning about our forest and the natural populations of the area, and everything H2O. Students were feeling confident and proud after warm days in the sun but still tackling big hikes for the first time. True teamwork and camaraderie shined as students conquered their fears of heights and encouraged each other to trek onward even with worn out legs. Even singing to pass the time! Our evening meal challenged students by cooking their own hamburgers on mini fires they had to build and tend to. Another effort in teamwork! Students are learning about Town Meeting by participating in a mock town meeting with farms, environmental factors, and our basic needs being the hot topics. Cookies with a story ended our gorgeous day!
